Witchcraft doctors could be patients at mental clinics

The European Radio for Belarus has learned that both the patients and "parapsychologists" are admitted to mental clinics after visiting extrasensory and witchcraft doctors.

Usually, “parapsychologists” are brought to the mental houses in an inadequate condition by their relatives. Valiantsina Minyuk, the head of the psychiatric female department at the Regional Psychiatric and Narcological Center in Hrodna, told the European Radio for Belarus that at least two “extrasensory” individuals were admitted to the center since the beginning of the year.

“They are our patients. They are registered with our center. In between the acute attacks, they act as extrasensory doctors. They always rush to get discharged as quickly as possible, because they have the queues of clients waiting for them. After we discharge them, they begin treating all of the rest”.

Valiantsina Minyuk also says that parapsychologists do recognize themselves as mentally ill and always try to rush back home. The doctor recalled a case when a husband who works as a licensed "extrasensory" doctor in Hrodna periodically brings his wife to the psychiatric center for treatment.

“This husband has a license from a certain Kiev-based people’s university. By the way, many people bring similar certificates from there. His wife is our chronic patient; he periodically brings her in here. After she gets some treatment and gets discharged, she helps his husband in his work. She runs with candles, read prayers and carry out their various rituals”.

Meanwhile, the National Psychiatric Hospital in Navinki accommodates the people who tried to solve their personal problems with the help of extrasensory individuals and parapsychologists.

Andrei Butsko, a psychiatry doctor from the neuroses department, recalled a case when Anton, 30 asked for medical help after having spent three years with parapsychologists and sorcerers trying to cure impotence. The man paid $6,000 to those “doctors” and even had to sell his car. After all the money was spent, his relatives advised him to seek help in Navinki.

“He approached numerous sorcerers. His last visit was to a certain powerful extrasensory wizard. He was getting treatment for one year and even lived and worked there for up to three months. I think it looked like a sect. He paid $6000 and sold his car. He was being promised that the stars would arise and the witchcraft would disappear”.

Anton ended up in Navinki in a serious condition. After one month of treatment, he started recovering. According to the doctor, the impotence problem was far-fetched. He had a difficult relationship with his wife. It turned later the problem was not physical. Rather, it was psychological.

“After one month, we figured that the problem was not with impotence but with his wife. He had a better performance with other women. He realized his problem and the potency improved.

Doctor Andrei Butsko also recalled another case when an artist spent five years treating his nervous breakdown with the help of various sorcerers. He would pay with his paintings. When he stopped sleeping and eating, his relatives brought him to the hospital.

As a rule, the course of treatment after sorcerers lasts 1-1.5 months. According to the psychiatrist, doctors just need half an hour of conversation in order to understand how the person is addicted to the promises of witchcraft or extrasensory wizards.
