US President prolongs sanctions against Belarusian officials and Lukashenka
The President of the United States of America George Bush has prolonged financial sanctions against Alyaksandr Lukashenka and a number of Belarusian officials for one more year.
He signed a regulation on “blocking the property” of these persons yesterday. There are 10 people on the list of those whose accounts and property can be arrested in the US. Besides Alyaksandr Lukashenka, it is his son Victar Lukashenka, deputy head of the President’s Administration Natallya Paytkevish, Minister of Justice Victar Halavanau, head of Belarusian State Broadcasting Company Alyaksandr Zіmouskі, head of KGB Stsyapan Suharenka, state secretary of Security Council Victar Sheiman, special police troops colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affaires Dzmitry Paulichenka, Minister of Internal Affaires Uladzimir Navumau and head of Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna.
Let us remind you that sanctions against the people “responsible for undermining of democratic processes and institutions, violation of human rights and state corruption” were imposed on June 19, 2006. The sanctions are prolonged in connection with the fact that the policy of Lukashenka and his officials “continues creating a threat to the national security and foreign policy of the USA”.
