Swedish Culture Days banned in Pinsk

Pinsk City Hall has refused to issue permission for the organization of the Days of Swedish Culture. The events associated with the Days of Swedish Culture were held in Pinsk in the four consecutive years. Local residents would traditionally meet with Swedish artists, writers and musicians.

Students from the local schools would also take part in the young poetry contests. Winners were invited to attend a book fair in Goeteborg. The contest's jury used to include prominent Belarusian writers like Ryhor Baradulin, Piotra Vasyuchenka, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Leanid Dranko-Maisyuk. Exhibitions and music concerts would take place.

This year, Pinsk is deprived of this significant cultural event.
