Nord Stream to be officially opened today
Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will give a start to commercial gas shipments through the new pipeline.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, French Prime Minister François Fillon and EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger will also take part in the launch ceremony. 420 guests are invited to the ceremony in Lubmin in the Western Germany, where the pipeline comes out to the shore, ВВС informs.
Let us remind you, exploitation of the new gas pipeline will essentially shorten shipments of the Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine. Nord Stream will also influence the transit of gas through Belarus.
