NOC: There are no places for singers at Olympics
Hanna Sharkunova would be glad to join the official delegation at Beijing Olympics to render moral support to our sportsmen. She would even cancel all of her concerts for it. Alyaksandr Tsihanovich and Ina Afanasiyeva would not mind visiting China either. Lyavon Volski thinks that sportsmen and coaches are adequate people but he would not go to Beijing. However, the vice President of the NOC Henadz Alyakseyenka thinks that our Olympics sportsmen will do their best even without singers’ moral support and says they will not take any other people to Beijing with them. Rumours about a list of singers who will go to Beijing together with the official delegation of sportsmen, coaches, doctors and sports officials being drawn up in the National Olympic Committee has appeared on the Internet recently. They are supposed to raise the morale of sportsmen and help them get as many medals as possible. The European Radio for Belarus has decided to find out whether famous Belarusian singers are receiving any offers to go to Beijing.
Alyaksandr Tsіhanovіch told ERB that almost all national teams have tried bringing famous singers of their countries to the Olympics. It was done in our country too. That is why he said that if he were offered to go to Beijing to support our sportsmen with his songs he would cancel all of his other concerts to do it.
Alyaksandr Tsіhanovіch: “It used to be rather common. I think that raising the morale is a great idea. I cancel my concerts to take part in such events. I would surely agree to go there if it was necessary”.
However, he said he doubted he would be invited if such a group of singers was created. It is because nobody knows who would be selecting them.
Alyaksandr Tsіhanovіch: “I am not likely to receive an offer to go there. The thing is nobody knows who would perform the selection and it depends on the person”.

Unfortunately, the singer said she had not received any offers of the kind.
Hanna Sharkunova: “Visiting such an event – it happens once in a lifetime. You could describe it to children. I would be really happy. Culture and sports go the same way. I am a fan of Dynama “Minsk” and of hockey teams. Teams come to my concerts and then I come to them. It is mutual friendship. Who would help each other if we didn’t do it?!”
The singer was so inspired by the theoretical possibility of going to the Olympics that she even started drawing up a list of singers to invite there.
Hanna Sharkunova: “I would invite Ira Darafeeva because she is our Lady #1. Lyoshka Hlaystou. I would take Janet because she is a very sportive girl. Ina Afanasiyeva, for sure. These people set examples and they should be the first line of support. I would invite “Palats”. In fact, I would invite many people”.
Even “Krama” and “N.R.M.” were on her list. However, while Ina Afanasiyeva confessed to ERB that she would gladly visit Beijing if she was offered to, Layvon Volski said he would refuse it flatly.
Lyavon Volskі: “It is difficult for singers to take part in official events. You have to stick to the regulations; you will be controlled and told what to do. It is very difficult. There will be 10 bosses telling you about your rights and commitments. There will be very few rights and many commitments”.
The musician confessed that he was acquainted with many sportsmen and coaches and considered them adequate people. It would be good to sing for them and support them. And to ignore officials and the regulations in a pointed manner.
