Javier Solana predicts wars for land and water
A report of the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana “Climatic changes threaten stability in the world” was presented on March 11. Many threats including lack of plough-land, water, fish, displacement of deserts and floods in island-states are listed in it.
Three quarters of Arab states use imported water now. The river Jordan is becoming shallow; a water crisis may start in Israel, Turkey, Syria and Arabia.
Plough-land is growing smaller in Africa. According to Solana, new international conflicts may be caused by the lack of water and land, informs gazeta.pl.
