Trial of BHC vs Ministry of Justice to be resumed today
The BHC Chairman Aleh Hulak, representatives of the Ministry and the public prosecutor's office will hold speeches, and then the verdict will be pronounced.
Let us remind you, the Republican HR association "Belarusian Helsinki Committee" is trying to claim the written warning, issued by the Ministry of Justice against the BHC on January 12, 2011. This warning was issued after the human rights defenders had directed the information about harassment of lawyers who defended the accused and suspects in "Dec.19 mass disturbances" by the Belarusian authorities, to Mrs. Gabriela Knaul, the Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers.
The Ministry of Justice considered that this message "contained false information which discredited law-enforcement authorities and the authorities of justice of the Republic of Belarus".
