Trial against book-seller Ales Yaudakha resumed in Minsk
The trial will be resumed on June 27 in the Kastrychnitski district court of Minsk.
Founder of the Belarusian-language
Internet service "Books By Post" Yaudakha is accused of illegal
entrepreneur activity. He sent the books of the famous Belarusian writers like
Vasil Bykau, Uladzimir Arlou, Mikola Yermalovich, Ryhor Baradulin and many others,
which are difficult to buy in the state-owned book shops, via mail. The public
prosecution saw illegal entrepreneur activity in this and appealed to the court.
Radio
Liberty reminds that the accusation summoned 230
witnesses - clients - from different cities of the country. Many of them failed
to appear in court as a sign of support for Yaudakha.
The trial against
Yaudakha started last year. In November it was suspended for an expert analysis
of the case materials. According to the accusation, Ales Yaudakha faces from 2
years of restriction of freedom till 3 years of imprisonment.
