Syarhei Laznitsa reminds about Russian occupation of Belarus
The director of the movie, which will be shown in Cannes, reminds that the Belarusian lands were occupied not only by the fascists.
Let us remind you, Laznitsa's movie "In the Fog" by Vasil Bykau's tale has been included into the program of the Cannes film festival.
The director pays much attention to the theme which Vasil Bykau also considered - moral choice of a person in inhumane conditions, in an interview to "Novaya Gazeta". Alongside with that, Laznitsa, as a native of Baranavichy, often refers to the history of Belarus.
The issue of the occupied Belarus gets special attention. The Russian journalist clarified that she meant the fascist occupation. Laznitsa replied that the lands of the Great Duchy of Lithuania, which included Belarus, were occupied by the Russian Empire as well.
