Russia expects explanations from Belarus with regard to Andrej Yurau
Russia's Embassy has sent a note to the Belarusian MFA with regard to detention of the Russian HR defender Andrej Yurau.
The Russian Embassy's advisor Vadzim Huseu has informed to "Radio Liberty" that the diplomatic mission found out about the detention of the head of the International observing mission Andrej Yurau on the spot.
The Embassy has called the Belarusian MFA's duty attendant operatively, informed about the Russian citizen's detention and asked to inform the Embassy on all the details in this regards.
“The Russian diplomat is now meeting with Andrej Yurau in the Soviet district department of internal affairs. The Embassy controls the situation with the Russian human rights defender and will take all the necessary steps in the framework of the international legal field to defend the rights of the detained citizen of the Russian Federation", — Vadzim Huseu has said.
