Hrodna authorities won’t leave human rights activist Svyatlana Rudkouskaya
The human rights defender considers it to be persecution for her active participation in election campaigns when she was an independent observer
and lodged a number of complaints.
Hrodna authorities still won’t leave Svyatlana Rudkouskaya, independent observer and member of the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, alone, informs the human rights centre “Vyasna”.
She was summoned to the economic crime prevention department of Lenin District thrice in February. Numerous complaints of elderly inhabitants of the house where Rudkouskaya was the head of the housing and communal services were the reason for it. New problems emerged in March – Rudkouskaya was informed that an investigation of possible forging of people’s signatures before her election to the position of the head of the housing co-operative society two years before was in process.
