Henik Loika: Speaking Belarusian is like a crime now (video)
"We have no education in Belarusian," the sculptor claimed during his Belarusian language support action near Minsk grammar school #4.
"All the officials I have met replied in Russian: "We have two state languages," Henik Loika said. "I want our children to study in Belarusian. Adults need to speak Belarusian to achieve it. How can they teach their children to speak Belarusian if they chose the Russian language themselves?"
Loika said that the aim of his action was to make teachers speak Belarusian. "Speaking Belarusian is like a crime in our country," BelaPAN quotes him.
Henik Loika was detained by the police after the action. He will stand trial in Frunze District Court.
