General Prosecution: investigators did not press anarchists' case witnesses
A court trial on the case of the anarchist movement's activists is taking place in the Zavodzki district court of Minsk for the 5th day.
Ihar Alinevich, Mikalaj Dziadok, Aliaksandr Frantskevich, Maxim Vetkin and Yauhen Selivonchyk are accused of a series of attacks on buildings, in particular, on the General Headquareters and the Akrestsina detention center. Frantskevich is also accused of hacking the web-site of Navapolatsk city executive committee.
Let us remind you, many witnesses claimed at the trial that the investigation
had put psychological and physical pressure on them, demanding to give evidence
against the accused. According to the web-site "Indimedia
Belarus", deputy
general prosecutor's statement was announced on May 24. He said that the
prosecutor's office had conducted a checking and revealed no facts of pressure
on the witnesses by the investigation.
Many witnesses failed to appear in court on May 24. The judge decided to consider
the reasons for their absence justified and to read their testimonies given
during preliminary investigation.
According to the testimony of the witness Bystryk, Alinevich was the one who
organized the attack on the Russian Embassy. Vetkin and Bystryk himself
allegedly took part in that action, the latter was supposed to take pictures.
Alinevich does not confirm Bystryk's evidence. He says that Bystryk had a black
eye at the face-to-face interrogation and gestured that he would not give true
evidence.
