First Czech President Václav Havel commemorated in Minsk

Belarusian writers, journalists, civil and political activist, and musicians came there to pay tribute to the outstanding person: writer Uladzimir Arlou, Deputy Chairman of the BPF party Ryhor Kastusyou, Chairman of the movement "For Freedom" Alyaksandr Milinkevich, HR defender Valyantsin Stefanovich, musician Lyavon Volski. Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic Dagmar Didenko-Novohradska and Slovakian Ambassador Marian Servatka also attended the event, informs BelaPAN.

Václav Havel (1936 - 2011) - a famous Czech playwright, persecuted for free-thinking at the times of the Communist regime, was imprisoned and considered a prisoner of conscience. After the Prague spring 1989 elected as President of Czechoslovakia, and after it was liquidated in 1993 - the President of the Czech Republic. He stayed at this position till 2003. He suffered from a severe illness during the last years of his life. Václav Havel spoke in support of Belarusian democratic forces many times.
