Day of memory of women who suffered from police offered to be marked today

She addressed to the Belarusian police with an open letter, informs the web-site of the campaign. In her appeal, she suggested to mark March 7 as a day of memory of the women who suffered from the illegal actions of the Belarusian police.

Karach suggests marking this day as Salihorsk human rights activist Yana Palyakova killed herself on March 7, 2009. The woman sued the policeman who had beaten her but lost the trial. She was sentenced to 2,5 years of forcible hard labour allegedly for a slander.

The woman wrote in her death note that she was not going to be a prisoner as she did nothing wrong.
