Cinema Perpetuum Mobile film festival banned in Hrodna region
Hrodna region has become the only province in Belarus where this International Short Film Festival didn't happen.
Hrodna residents who had
bought the tickets were offered to watch "Anna Karenna" instead. The
same situation repeated in Lida, informs the newspaper Vecherniy Grodno.
After the event had already started it turned out that the fest had been
organized in Hrodna without permit of the cultural and ideological departments
of the regional executive committee. Director of "Grodnovideoprokat"
Yury Alyaksei told this.
The fest coordinator in Hrodna Julia Kalyada has another version of the events.
According to her, they saw some commercial background in the event and decided
it had been financed by unknown sources. In the reality, the organizers say,
the fest was prepared by volunteers.
According to founder and coordinator of the Cinema Perpetuum Mobile in Belarus
Alyaksandr Martynyuk, there wasn't the need for a special permit from the local
authorities in any other city of Belarus. The fest was held in 8 Belarusian
cities and 14 countries of the world.
