Belarus MFA refuses to let Polish Belarusians into country
The Ministry claims it is impossible to issue visas to journalist Yauhen Vap and historian Lena Hlahouskaya.
This is
stated in the answer which the World Association of Belarusians
"Fatherland" received to their enquiry. The organization requested to
issue entry visas to Polish Belarusians, members of the “Fatherland” Supreme
Council. The response is signed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Alena
Kupchina, informs the press center of “Fatherland”.
Euroradio reminds, Head of Administration of the Radio Racyja and
Editor-in-Chief of the weekly newspaper for Belarusians in Poland Niva Yauhen
Vap had his visa cancelled by the customs officers with no explanations when he
entered Belarus in May 2011. This October, "Fatherland" prepared the
documents for the new Belarusian visa for him, but in November, the journalist
received his passport with the denial stamp in the Belarusian consular
department in Bialystock.
Chairperson of the Belarusian Cultural Association "Khatka" in Gdansk
Lena Hlahouskaya was denied a visa this October. The historian was supposed to
come to Hrodna in order to participate in the international conference
"People of Ancient Hrodna", organized by the Association of
Belarusian School.
