Ales Bialiatski: There has been no such Skype conversation
The Vice-President of the International Federation on Human Rights Ales Bialiatski has commented the "SB" publication
The "Soviet Byelorussia. Belarus Today" has started publishing the "incriminating evidence" against the Belarusian opposition in the issue dated January 14. Let us remind you, the newspaper got such a task from the state leader at the press-conference on December 20, 2010.
The first part of the materials is called "Behind the scenes of one conspiracy. Declassified documents on the events of December 19, provided by the Head of the State for publication in the "SB".
A fragment of Skype conversation is among the "operative materials". Bialiatski allegedly talked to the coordinator of the Polish foundation "Wolnosc i demokracja" ( "Freedom and Democracy") about financial issues via Skype.
"No, there has been no such conversation, although we keep good relations with the foundation "Wolnosc i demokracja" . Yesterday they co-organized an international conference, dedicated to the Belarusian events, which took place in the Sojm in Warsaw", — says Ales Bialiatski.According to him, "SB" published lies. "However, Skype is a rather transparent system so one should be careful using it", - stated Bialiatski.
He is convinced that publication of such "incriminating evidence" will be continued and that the aim of this action is "to discredit the civil society, non-governmental organizations and political parties".
Ales Bialiatski reminded that something like this has gone on for 20 years. "It is difficult to show something new, but the style is the same", — he says.
