March 25 - Freedom Day

Freedom Day is marked today. The Council of the Belarusian People's Republic adopted the 3rd Charter, thus declaring our country's independence, on March 25, 1918.

National forces have a tradition to mark this day by a festive rally and a demonstration. The authorities allowed only the demonstration in the Bangalore Square this year, and the applicants took the decision not to conduct the street rally at all.

The BPF leader Aliaksej Yanukevich has said at a press-conference on March 22, that "we decided to change the format and mark this day by putting flowers to Yanka Kupala's monument".

According to Mikalaj Dzemidzenka, the "Young Front" has quite a different opinion, and it was not a common decision to abolish the action. "It is unacceptable to go to Bangalore Square on this great March holiday, but it is even more unacceptable to abolish the action. Therefore, we, as before, urge everyone to come to Yakub Kolas Square on March 25," — Mikalaj Dzemidzenka has said.

The "European Belarus" has joined the "Young Front" in this decision.
