EHU students express solidarity with Aliaksandr Atroshchankau
Students and the youth initiative StudAlliance has addressed with an appeal to the civil society.
Atroshchankau is a 3rd year student of the European Humanities University. "We are convinced, that Aliaksandr Atroshchankau was sentenced exclusively upon political reasons", - stated in the appeal.
"It is obvious that Aliaksandr Atroshchankau, as well as other political prisoners, will become a subject for trade- the Belarusian regime will try to exchange him for some preferences. Such "medieval policy" is absolutely unacceptable in the XXI century. We demand immediate release of our colleague and other political prisoners", - the authors of the appeal say.
The EHU students remind about Mikalaj Dziadok, who has been under arrest for the fifth month already, while the investigation cannot find any proofs of his connection with any crime. Apart from this, the students express their solidarity with the EHU teacher Aliaksandr Fiaduta, who is in the KGB detention center at the moment, and the student Anastasia Palazhanka.
"We are urging the Belarusian society and the international community not to be indifferent to this problem. We hope that they will not close their eyes to violation of human rights in Belarus, to humiliation of a person and to breaking of principles of the international law, in this crucial moment",- the authors of the appeal say.
