Chinese troops may appear in Belarus
The members of parliament in Belarus approve in the first reading the bill drafted by the defense ministry on the the presence of Chinese troops here.
The bill ratifies the Belarus-China agreement on the status of Chinese troops temporarily deployed in Belarus. The new law also indicated the status of Belarusian troops deployed in China for joint manoeuvres (training), Radio Liberty reports.
According to Minister of Defence Yury Zhadobin, the agreement will allow “to sustain a high level of combat readiness in the two states which can help react to new challenges and threats to the international safety”.
Join Belarus-China manoeuvres were launched in 2011. Belarus has similar agreements with the CSTO member states.
