Bjork invited to perform at WorldMusicTree in Belarus
The WorldMusicTree project is an ideal platform for experiments not only in the field of music but in the field of art in general. The whole thing will begin with a concert of Belarusian ethno stars: Palac (Palace), Troitsa (Trinity) and OSIMIRA. The achievements of the festival will depend on the ambitions of organizers and cosmos which is an integral part of the ethno world.
Andrus Palauchenya and Aleh Tsikhanau (OSIMIRA) -- the main men behind this fest – have come up with an idea to grow an international tree as a universal Symbol of Life. The organizers maintain that “this symbol can become a symbol of uniting people on the basis of their culture”.
“We thought of this as an international project. Firstly, it is very interesting to see people who are devoted to the creative ethnic work; to unite them without mixing their national borders at the same time. It is very important to us that every band and every artiste could fully represent their countries. Every country and every participant will represent a branch of the international tree that we will be growing together”, says Andrus Palauchenya.
The fest will be launched as a musical event. With time, it can transform into a multi-cultural festival, not bound to grand stages. It will unite artists, drama actors, choreographs and people who deal with ethnic crafts and other arts.
In the words of the organizers, plans are to stage the WorldMusicTree festival several times a year both in Belarus and other countries.
“We plan to organizer the fest twice or four times a year. Everything depends on the idea of every event. This could take place in various countries. For example, we have a preliminary agreement with Poland, but it is still too early to say anything. First of all, we need to get a successful launch. The future of our project will depend on how well we will do it”, says Paulyuchenya.
Nevertheless, the second part of the festival has already been outlined. It will be part of the Slavic Bazaar in Vitsebsk when the Russian ethno stars will perform.
“We expect Russian stars like Starostin, Inna Zhelannaya and Ivan Smirnov to perform during the Slavic Bazaar in Vitsebsk in July. That will be the second phase of our festival”.
Quite frankly, I feel great that festivals of WORLD and ETHNO music styles stop being underground and local, and raise to the international level. I hope that the dreams of the organizers will come true and Belarusians will be able to see Bjork!
“We dream about inviting Dead Can Dance, Corvus Coraz. There is also a hope to play a concert with Bjork one day…I believe that hopes grow into reality like trees”, says Paulyuchenya.
I will only add that the WorldMusicTree festival will be launched on May 26 with a grand show by Palace, Trinity and OSIMIRA. Great light, sound and cheap tickets should make you feel fun. Admission fees range from Br 8000 to Br 20000.
