Belarusian Constitution was adopted 14 years ago

The Supreme Council of Belarus adopted the Constitution on March 15, 1994. At that moment it was one of the most democratic constitutions in Europe.
The basic law was changed twice during the rule of Alyaksandr Lukashenka – in 1996 and in 2004.

As a result, the limit of presidential terms was cancelled, the rights of the leader of the sate were increased and the state symbols – the white-red-white flag and the “Pahonya” state emblem - were changed.
