Two Ukrainian citizens suspected of carrying out terrorist attacks on the Polish railway are being sought in Belarus. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Ruslan Varankou.
“The competent authorities of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Poland are carrying out joint measures to establish the whereabouts of two Ukrainian citizens who are suspected of committing crimes of a terrorist nature on the territory of Poland,” BELTA reports his words.
The diplomat confirmed that the Ukrainians had entered the territory of Belarus.
“In the event that the whereabouts of the mentioned persons are identified on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, they will be detained. Afterwards, in the prescribed manner and taking into account all circumstances relating to the case, the issue of their transfer to the Polish side will be considered,” the MFA press secretary added.
He added that on the part of Poland, a properly formalized request for legal assistance on this matter has not yet been received, but official Minsk has met halfway.
The explosion on the Polish railway occurred on November 16. Polish security services found that it had been organized, on instructions from Russian special services, by Ukrainian citizens who arrived from the territory of Belarus and returned after the sabotage. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland handed the Belarusian side a note demanding the extradition of the suspected Ukrainians.
