Kalyakin threatened with persecution for putting flowers to Lenin monument

According to BelaPAN, the reason for the interrogation in the police department was that the party members put flowers to the Lenin's monument in the Independence Square in Minsk on November 7. 30-40 people participated in the event. After the floral tribute, Syarhej Kalyakin held a short speech for his fellow-party members.

The policemen asked the politician why he had put flowers to the monument, why he hadn't filed an application for the action, what the journalists had asked him. Kalyakin explained that a floral tribute was not covered by the law on mass events as it is neither a rally nor a demonstration.

The policemen promised to pass the protocol of interrogation to the investigators who would check whether there had been violation of the law. It is not excluded that a case may be started against Kalyakin.
