Bethlehem flame arrives in Belarus (photo report)
The lamp crossed the Polish-Belarusian border and arrived at the Farny Church of Hrodna on December 16.
A solemn service will take place in Minsk Cathedral at 6.30 p.m. today. The Bethlehem flame is handed over to the Belarusian scouts by their Polish counterparts every year. It is brought to Moscow after it is brought to Catholic and Orthodox churches in Belarusian cities.
According to catholic.by, Austrian scouts get the flame in Christ’s birthplace in the grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Israel and deliver it to Austria. After the festivities at the Vienna Cathedral, the sacred fire is passed by scouts to their counterparts in other countries.
