According to Nasha Niva, the detention happened right after the participants of the "rally" had walked 300 meters away from the monument to Frantsishak Bahushevich (they had spent about 20 minutes there, the passers-by stopped and looked at the paintings). Among the Smarhon detainees there are artist Valyantsin Varanishcha, Uladzimir Shulzhytski together with members of the creative union "Chaser" of the Belarusian Union of Artists Henadz Drazdou, Ales Tsyrkunou and Ales Pushkin. They gave explanations. They were kept in the police department till the morning. The artists will stand trial for participation in a "non-sanctioned event" on September 3.
In 1948-1949 Rastsislau Lapitski created an anti-communist underground organization, which published anti-Stalin leaflets in Smarhon and Myadzel districts. After the organization was detected its members were imprisoned in GULAG, including underage ones, and Rastsislau Lapitski was shot. He refused to appeal for pardon.
