Russian police tortured Belarusian guest workers
Two innocent Belarusians confessed to the crimes they never committed after tortures in police custody in Russia.
The workers pled guilty under torture of having raped and killed a woman in 2006.
It took the police 7 years to find the real culprit, reports newsru.com. Hiletski raped and killed a woman and wounded a man in 2006. He decided to accuse two Baranavichy inhabitants of the crime. He worked with them and they quarrelled. He told the police that Belarusian guest workers Syarhei Hitryk and Vyachaslau Byalevich were to blame for the crime.
He left a condom in the crime scene. However, the police were not interested in this evidence. They spent three days torturing the Belarusian builders to make them confess. They beat and kicked them and also tortured them with electric shocks, Hitryk said. They did not give them any food either. The builders pled guilty and were imprisoned for 5 years. Byalevich was sent to Belarus while Hitryk was left in Russia.
Relatives stopped contacting Hitryk because they believed that he was guilty. He contracted tuberculosis in prison three years later.
The truth revealed when Hiletski killed two women in Moscow District in 2009. Byalevich and Hitryk were released.
Hitryk was taken to Saratau TB hospital after prison. Then he was transferred to Minsk. Syarhei is still unable to hug his son after 5 years of imprisonment because he is afraid to infect him. He cannot find a job and help his elderly mother. Syarhei received a compensation for his imprisonment: 800 thousand Russian roubles: about 431 roubles for every day he spent in prison.
Two policemen who tortured the Belarusian will also stand trial. One more policeman is wanted now.
